Aug 19, 2019
Corn – Dough to Dent Stages – Dryland corn continues to show moisture stress in our middle to southern territory. Irrigated corn is looking mostly good. Spider mites are starting to decline due to treatments and natural predators. Less disease pressure than originally expected due to hotter, dry conditions.
Soybeans – Soybeans are in Pod Fill Stages. Double Crop Soybeans are flowering now. Webworms have cycled out or been treated in most fields. Finding more cloverworm this week. Watch for hollow stems from Dectes Stem Borer. Found some spider mites and a couple spots of Sudden Death Syndrome in soybeans last week.
Milo – Milo is In Boot to Flowering stages. Starting to fill some berries on earlier planted. Not seeing heavy headworm pressure yet, but keep an eye out. Still no reports of Sugar Cane Aphid in our territory.
Alfalfa – With the influx of webworms last week, many producers sprayed or swathed. Control looks good so far. Finding a few cloverworm and lacewings present.
